Abby Welch, BS, BA, received Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2015. Prior to joining the University of Minnesota’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department in June 2025, Abby coordinated studies for Craig Hospital’s Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model Systems grants, collected data for VCU’s TBI Model System and its collaborative modules, and conducted research centered on racial and gender discrimination in the healthcare field. Currently, she is a clinical data manager for the Minnesota Regional Spinal Cord Injury Model System (MN SCIMS). Her research interests include disability ethics, social determinants of health, pain, and sexuality.
